Since 2022, DEF, a leader in fire protection, has trusted Ask for the Moon to accelerate the sharing of know-how. Dominique Hilmoine, Project Manager, talks with us about his discovery and use of Ask DEF:
What are your daily missions?
I am in charge of implementation within the Department of International Organizations (DOI). On the one hand, I ensure the commissioning of fire equipment, but also audits or surveys, mainly in DOM-TOM and Africa. On the other hand, when I am not traveling, I stay in touch with our customers and our sales teams in order to answer their questions.
Our main objective is to provide the right answers to the customer quickly, and getting it right the first time.
How did you discover Ask DEF?
I discovered Ask DEF through word of mouth, during an intervention in French Guiana. I was facing a technical problem on a power plant, that's when a colleague I met during training told me about Ask DEF.
I asked my question. The next morning (with the time difference), I had the answer from a person from the National Technical Service (STN).
Since then, I've been using Ask DEF regularly, almost every week. I wouldn't say I can't live without it, but I really find value in it.
Can you tell us about another time when AskDef helped you?
One day I read a question about a technical anomaly on Ask DEF. A month later, a customer contacted us about a similar topic. I remembered seeing the answer on the platform, and I was able to easily find it. I was able to share the explanation almost word for word with the customer. In five minutes, it was settled: the customer had the answer he was waiting for.
What benefits did you get from it?
I was able to find answers quickly, without wasting time reaching out to others. Beyond this time saving, Ask DEF makes it possible to keep a written record of answers, which can be easily retrieved, even several months later.
Who would you recommend Ask DEF to?
To all commissioning and maintenance technicians. When you are faced with a slightly complex or unusual technical situation during an intervention, Ask DEF can make a difference. Without the need to contact other people. It also seems to me that business managers, project managers and even the design office could benefit from it.
